Alumnus Bernard Smith Jr. ’17 made a generous contribution to help grow of one JCSU’s fastest growing programs. The Smithite donated $11,000 to the Esports and Gaming Program.

JCSU is among the top 50 universities in the nation and the top 7 HBCUs in the Best Bachelor’s Degrees in Biology category as ranked by Study.com.

In an effort to safely return to normalcy for the fall 2021 semester, Johnson C. Smith University is requiring students to receive COVID-19 vaccinations. In order to return to campus for the 2021-2022 academic school year, students must complete the vaccination process by Friday, July 30, 2021.

Johnson C. Smith University has been chosen as a 2021 Women’s Impact Fund grantee.

Biddle Memorial Hall was the site of another moment in Johnson C. Smith University history as Wells Fargo gave a $1 million grant to the University.

Smith University is once again taking top honors among HBCUs. College Consensus, a unique college ratings website that aggregates publisher rankings and student reviews, has published its annual ranking of the Best Historically Black Colleges and Universities for 2021 and JCSU leads as the top private HBCU in the state. 

Johnson C. Smith University has been awarded a $35,000 Humanities Connections Planning Grant by The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) to research and develop a Digital Innovation (DI) program.

Dr. Marsha Rhee, associate professor of English, is a HistoryMakers 2020 Innovations in Pedagogy Teaching Fellowship Award recipient. She is the only educator from an HBCU represented in this fellowship. 

The Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. is taking top honors among the fraternity’s undergraduate chapters.
