Tuition and fees for JCSU

At Johnson C. Smith University, we understand the cost of a good education is an important consideration for students and their parents. The University reserves the right to change tuition and other charges at the beginning of the semester if such change is necessary in the judgment of the Board of Trustees. 

 

Basic fee information

 

JCSU tuition is $11,075.00 per semester for a full-time undergraduate student with 12-18 credit hours per semester.  Undergraduate students enrolled for more than 18 credit hours will be charged an additional $838.00 per credit hour. 

Tuition for part-time undergraduate students is $887.50 per credit hour and applies to students who are enrolled for 11 credit hours or less. 

Graduate students enrolled full-time, 9-15 credit hours per semester, pay $11,075.00. Graduate students studying less than 9 hours per semester pay $1,230.00 per credit hour. All graduate students pay a mandatory fee of $185.00 per semester.

Students enrolled in our evening and online program pay $660.00 per credit hour per term and a mandatory fee of $185.00 per semester. 

Students living on-campus will also need to pay for room and a meal plan. The cost per semester depends on the residence hall and meal plan selected. There are also application fees, parking fees and other fees to consider.

Meal plans

Meal plan 1

This plan is available to students living on and off campus.  It offers nineteen (19) meals per week, Monday- Sunday.  The meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday-Friday, and brunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday.  This plan also includes $300.00 Flex Dollars for the student for usage in select dining locations managed by the food management company. All Flex dollars must be used by the end of the semester. 

Meal plan 2

This plan is available to students living on and off campus.  It offers fifteen (15) meals per week, three (3) meals per day, Monday – Friday.  Meals included are breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  No weekends.  This plan also includes $400.00 Flex Dollars for the student for usage in select dining locations managed by the food management company. All Flex dollars must be used by the end of the semester. 

Meal plan 4

This plan is for off-campus students only.  It offers ten (10) meals per week.  This plan offers Breakfast, Lunch and/or Dinner 5 days per week not to exceed 10 meals per week. No weekends.  This plan also includes $100.00 Flex Dollars for the student for usage in select dining locations managed by the food management company. All Flex dollars must be used by the end of the semester.

Dietary Restrictions

Students who have dietary restrictions must meet with the Health Center staff at the beginning of each semester. The Health Center staff will work in conjunction with our food services provider to develop a meal plan to accommodate these students.

Reminder

Students must have a valid JCSU ID card to enter the cafeteria.  Students without a valid ID card must go to the Business Office in Biddle Hall Suite 320 to pay for a new card and then to the JCSU IT Help Desk to have a replacement ID card made.

Summer school fees for 2026

Course offerings are usually limited and are determined on a demand basis.  Financial Aid awarded for the regular semester is not automatically carried forward and requires completion of a separate application.  In order to receive Financial Aid, a student must be enrolled for 6 credit hours.

Traditional undergraduate students pay $660.00 per credit hour for JCSU's summer school program.
