Our ACCREDITATION

Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU) is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate and master’s degrees. JCSU also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. Questions about the accreditation of Johnson C. In accordance with their policies, the Commission on Colleges should only be contacted for the following reasons:

  1. To learn more about the accreditation status of the university.
  2. To file a third-party comment at the time of the institution’s decennial review.
  3. To file a complaint against the institution for alleged non-compliance with a standard or requirement. Normal inquiries about JCSU, such as admission requirements, financial aid, educational programs, etc., should be addressed directly to JCSU and not to the Commission’s office.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Board of Trustees recommended that Johnson C. Smith University submit a Monitoring Report to the commission in April 2024. The Monitoring Report will provide information that reaffirms the University’s financial commitment to optimize fiscal operations for long-term stability.

The recommendation, which was made during the SACSCOC Board meeting on June 15, 2023, has no impact on the accreditation of JCSU. The University remains accredited without any sanctions.
