Two Tech Students Selected for Prestigious Harvard Business School Summer Program

This summer is much more than “business as usual” for two JCSU computer science majors. 

Hannah Anderson ’23 and Paige Davis ’23 are spending a week of their summer at Harvard Business School participating in the university’s Summer Venture Management Program in Boston. This distinguished program accepts only 180 students each year and is aimed at increasing diversity and opportunity in business education and global commerce.

Johnson C. Smith University mourns the passing of Cary Mitchell ’83. He was a dedicated alumnus who worked faithfully to advance his alma mater. We are proud of his accomplishments as a renowned clothing designer, including creating the look of the NBA Charlotte Bobcat’s uniform. He made his mark as the personal designer to many famous athletes and celebrities.

JCSU Receives $50,000 from Harris Teeter for Campus Food Pantry

Johnson C. Smith University received a $50,000 gift from Harris Teeter to support the campus food pantry in tackling food insecurity among students. The gift, which will be spread over five years, is part of Harris Teeter’s commitment to combat foot insecurity at five Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the grocery chain’s market areas.

Adams names President Armbrister as guest to the State of the Union Address

Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) is uplifting Clarence D. “Clay” Armbrister, the 14th president of Johnson C. Smith University as her Hometown Hero virtual guest to President Biden’s State of the Union Address to Congress on Tuesday. Armbrister is currently leading efforts to invest in and improve Charlotte’s West Side, both at JCSU and along the Beatties Ford Road corridor, that have been made possible by the American Rescue Plan.
