Business Administration major shines at Brighthouse Financial

Tymier Farrar ‘21

Charlotte, N.C./Sept. 29, 2020 – Tymier Farrar ‘21 is just two semesters away from graduation, but the business administration major is already getting professional experience for his future career as an entrepreneur. This summer he interned in the business law and customer relation sectors with Brighthouse Financial.

“Last fall I attended JCSUs Career Fair, in Brayboy Gymnasium, where I was given an on-site interview by this company’s campus recruiter,” Farrar explained.

During his 10 weeks with the company, Farrar conducted Zoom calls with high level management, presented PowerPoint presentations outlining weekly projects, and developed spreadsheets to configure customer invoices per capita.

“I was able to learn how to become a more efficient and direct communicator, as well as receive a means of the type of work I enjoy in the professional world,” he added.

Farrar hopes other students follow in his footsteps by attending the annual career fair as well as seeking out internship opportunities. “Internships allow for the ability to receive new mentor’s, and future job opportunities, as well as an elite way to build your resume,“ he said. “Students should engage in internships because it’s a great opportunity to receive experience in fields that they may or may not be interested in.”
