Office of ADA Compliance and Accommodations

Every Bull Belongs

The Office of ADA Compliance and Accommodations helps create an accessible, inclusive campus where every Golden Bull has the opportunity to thrive.

Inclusive Excellence through Accessibility

Mission Statement

The Office of ADA Compliance and Accommodations is here to assist you with any barriers you may encounter while you are at Johnson C. Smith University. The office works to ensure all JCSU faculty, staff and enrolled students have an equal opportunity to participate in all aspects of collegiate life. Our office operates under a social justice model of disability. We believe that disability is a natural part of human diversity. Our goal is not just to "fix" barriers, but to proactively design a campus environment where every student has an equal opportunity to thrive.

Our Commitment to Access

  • Equity, Not Advantage: Accommodations are not "special favors"; they are tools that level the playing field by removing barriers in the environment, curriculum, or physical campus.
  • Legal Foundation: We ensure the University meets its federal mandates under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Universal Design: We work with faculty and staff to create "born accessible" experiences, reducing the need for individual modifications over time.
