Entrance Counseling

Students interested in applying for Federal Direct Loan funding will need to complete an entrance Counseling and sign a Master Promissory Note (MPN) before the Office of Financial Aid can process any federal direct loans. To meet these requirements please complete the following the steps:

Go to https://studentaid.gov/entrance-counseling/ and follow the instructions selecting the correct student status (undergraduate or graduate), and click "log in to start." Log in using your FSA ID and Password.
 

Once you have submitted the entrance counseling, you will need to follow the steps to sign your MPN.

Go to https://studentaid.gov/mpn/

Select the correct student status: (undergraduate or graduate), and click "log in to start" using your FSA ID and password. Follow the instructions to complete the MPN.

To apply for the PLUS loan go to https://studentaid.gov/plus-app/parent/landing. Click "log in to start" and log in with your FSA ID and password and follow the steps to complete the process. 

If approved, please follow the steps to complete the PLUS Master Promissory Note.

Students who were recipients of Federal Direct Loan funds during their JCSU educational career are required by federal regulations to complete exit loan counseling upon completion of a program of study (graduation) or if you have ceased enrollment at JCSU (transferred to another college or withdrawn from all classes at JCSU) or dropped below halftime status.

The exit loan counseling requirement can be completed by going to https://studentaid.gov/exit-counseling/?counselingType=exit. Select your current student status (undergraduate or graduate) and click "log in to start" using your FSA ID and password. Follow the steps to complete the exit counseling process.
