Melvin Crispell III, the Season 9 winner of BET’s Sunday Best, brought his powerhouse vocals to Biddle Hall Monday, October 21, 2019 for Johnson C. Smith’s homecoming gospel explosion.

JCSU sheds light on mental health during volleyball game
During the Oct. 10 volleyball game against Livingstone, multiple departments, including Athletics, Counseling Services, Campus Police, University Communications and Marketing and community health organizations came together to shed light on mental wellness for World Mental Health Day.

Alumna makes history with Charlotte Fire Department
Venessa Roy ’08 has been a firefighter for the last 10 years. It wasn’t the career she envisioned for herself, but the one she is making big achievements in. The Alumna is the first African American engineer (driver/operator) with the Charlotte Fire Department.
