Watch JCSU Concert Choir Students perform during The Links Classical Arts Special

Charlotte, N.C./Mar. 17, 2021 – Enjoy the beautiful voices of two Johnson C. Smith University Concert Choir members during The Crown Jewels Chapter of The Links, Inc., Signature Arts Program on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at 7 p.m. Jaaven Middleton ’22 and Jewel Holmes ’22 will perform as part of “Classics Through the Ages – Performing Arts, Vocal Performance: A Virtual Soirée.”

“I am extremely honored to be a part of the Virtual Soirée. I thoroughly enjoy studying new repertoire and further expanding my vocal skills with beautiful classic songs throughout the ages,” said Middleton.

Classics Through the Ages (CTA) promotes arts education among African American youth to pique their interest, increase their knowledge, encourage their continued study in the classical arts, and teach them about the many possibilities for lucrative careers in and supporting the classical arts.

“It is exciting to be able to perform, especially during this difficult time,” Holmes said. “Usually, I am able to work with an accompanist for weekly coaching sessions. However, due to online learning, I used recorded accompaniment tracks provided to practice. Dr. White assisted me through these technical issues to prepare me for this quality performance.”

Despite the challenges, both students are excited to perform. You may watch their performance on YouTube.
