“Ms. Sheryl Underwood’s life and career reflect the brilliance, strength and purpose we cultivate in our students,” said Dr. Valerie Kinloch, president of Johnson C. Smith University. “Her message will undoubtedly inspire our graduates as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.”

Underwood will receive an honorary doctorate during the Commencement Ceremonies.  She embodies what it means to be a Smithite. She is an astute businesswoman and entrepreneur and serves as an inspiration for a great number of individuals who embrace their passions and creative energy to capitalize on opportunities in the marketplace.
