CHARLOTTE, N.C./August 22, 2026 — The newly formed Women in Action Chapter of the American Business Women Association (ABWA) held its official Kick-Off Meeting on August 22, 2026, on the campus of Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU) in Charlotte, North Carolina. Approximately 50 professional women and JCSU students attended the event, which introduced participants to the mission, goals, and objectives of ABWA and the newly established Charlotte chapter.
Founded in 1949, ABWA is a national organization dedicated to bringing together businesswomen from diverse occupations and providing opportunities for leadership development, professional growth, networking, education, community involvement, and national recognition . The organization empowers women to succeed personally and professionally through leadership, education, networking support, and professional development.
The Kick-Off Meeting provided an opportunity for professional women and students to learn more about ABWA and the vision for the Women in Action Chapter . The chapter seeks to create meaningful opportunities for women to develop leadership skills, expand professional networks, connect with mentors, explore career pathways, participate in community service, and strengthen workplace readiness.
