Ms. Ratliff will help coordinate:

Rather than contacting multiple offices, you’ll have one dedicated person guiding you from application through move-in.

Your Fast-Track Enrollment Journey

Step 1: Submit Your Application

Estimated time: 15–20 minutes

  • Complete your application.
  • Use fee waiver code HOWARDUGWAIVER.
  • Submit your transcript.

Application fee: FREE

 

Step 2: Admission Review

Within 24 hours

Our Admissions Team will:

  • Review your application.
  • Evaluate your transcript.
  • Render an admission decision.

You’ll receive:

  • Your official admission letter.
  • A personal phone call from your Enrollment Concierge.

 

Step 3: Confirm Your Enrollment

Same day

To reserve your place in the incoming class:

  • Accept your admission offer.
  • Pay your matriculation/enrollment deposit.

Important: Registration cannot begin until your enrollment deposit has been received.

 

Step 4: Academic Registration

Within 24 hours after deposit

Faculty advisors and department chairs will:

  • Review your transcript.
  • Evaluate transfer credit, if applicable.
  • Register you for classes.

You’ll receive your class schedule as soon as registration is complete.

 

Step 5: Financial Aid

48–72 hours for FAFSA processing

If you have already completed the FAFSA, update your FAFSA to include Johnson C. Smith University as one of your selected institutions.

Once JCSU is added:

  • Your FAFSA information, or ISIR, is typically received by JCSU within 48–72 hours.
  • Our Financial Aid team will immediately begin reviewing your file.
  • We’ll package your financial aid as quickly as possible and contact you if additional information is needed.

To avoid delays, update your FAFSA as soon as you submit your application.

 

Step 6: Housing

Within 24 hours of enrollment deposit

After your enrollment deposit is received:

  • Complete the Housing Application.
  • Submit your housing deposit.
  • Receive your residence hall assignment.

 

Step 7: Financial Clearance

Before August 14

Before arriving on campus, you must:

  • ✔ Accept your financial aid.
  • ✔ Establish a payment plan, if needed.
  • ✔ Resolve any outstanding balance.
  • ✔ Become financially cleared.

Important: Students who are not financially cleared will not be permitted to move into campus housing or begin classes.

Residence Life staff will guide you through each step.

 

Step 8: Welcome to JCSU!

Once you are enrolled, you’ll receive:

  • A Student Success Coach
  • A personalized orientation experience
  • Academic support resources
  • Connection to campus life
  • Preparation for move-in
