Charlotte, N.C. / July 16, 2021 – JCSU has partnered with CLC, the nation’s leading collegiate trademark licensing agency, to become one of the first five institutions on its new CORE81 licensing platform. The new system will help advance JCSU's licensing goals and help achieve better brand control and improve fan experience with licensed merchandise. This is first time JCSU has entered an agreement with an agency for its licensing program.

“We developed CORE81 to address a need in the industry for a licensing solution that makes the benefits of licensing easier to obtain and establish on any campus,” said Brad Coley, CLC’s Vice President of Partnerships. “We are excited to partner with these great institutions to help them take their licensing programs to the next level.”

CORE81 empowers colleges and universities to efficiently navigate the hurdles of establishing or developing smaller trademark licensing programs. CORE81 provides an easy-to-use, online toolbox for licensee tracking, artwork approvals, royalty collection and program management so institutions can focus on effectively managing their brands and unlocking new revenue potential.

"Johnson C. Smith University has a rich history and storied tradition that our alumni and current students support proudly," said Sherri Belfield, director of University Communications and Marketing. "They want access to more quality and licensed merchandise from trusted vendors. This partnership with CLC will allow us to manage the significant growth of our licensing program and strengthen our brand while streamlining efforts and eliminating inefficiencies. We look forward to the utilizing the CORE81 platform."
