Biography

Kenyatta Reed serves as the Director of TRIO-Student Support Services (SSS) at Johnson C. Smith University. In this role, she oversees academic, professional, and personal support programming and resources available to students who are first-generation, low-income, or managing disabilities.

Ms. Reed joined JCSU in June 2021 and has served in several roles, including Program Coordinator for the Career Pathways Academy, Instructor for Smith Seminar (SMS 100), and Program/Tutorial Coordinator for Student Support Services (SSS). Her dedication and impact on campus have been recognized, most notably with her recent honor as a 2024 JCSU Trench Worker’s Award recipient.

As a first-generation graduate, she is enthusiastic and passionate about advancing initiatives that enrich the collegiate experience of SSS participants through innovative programming, mentorship, and collaboration with other university departments.

Ms. Reed holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies and a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration and Student Affairs from Kent State University (Kent, Ohio). She is pursuing a Doctorate in Higher Education (Ed.D.) at the University of Southern Mississippi.

Outside of her career, Ms. Reed is a certified Instructor for Xtreme Hip Hop Step Aerobics and a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. She enjoys music, serving at her local church, and spending time with her family.
