My name is Justin Mackin, and I am a proud Charlotte native. Born in Gastonia, I’ve always had a strong desire for connection and an ambition to explore the qualities that have guided both my education and career. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Film Studies and Communications from Western Carolina University, where I discovered my passion for storytelling and digital media. During my studies, I developed a love for photography and videography, seeking every opportunity to refine my craft.
Over time, I built essential skills in content production, scheduling, and marketing, becoming proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Hootsuite. I also earned certifications in social media analytics and management, further strengthening my understanding of digital engagement. One of my proudest accomplishments is being a published photographer, with one of my photos featured in Broadway World.
Outside of work, I enjoy outdoor activities, creating art through photography and music, and practicing my culinary skills. I am genuinely excited about the opportunity to join Johnson C. Smith University as the new Digital Content Editor. I believe my passion for creative storytelling and strategic communication can help inform, inspire, and connect both within JCSU and beyond.
