Biography

Dr. Lucinda Blue is an Associate Professor of Business Administration and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU) in Charlotte, North Carolina. She also serves as Co-Director of Liberal Studies and an Academic Advisor, bringing a multidisciplinary and practice-informed approach to teaching, advising, and academic leadership. Recent JCSU recognition includes: CBPS Faculty Outstanding Faculty Award, Faculty Trailblazer & Torchbearer, and Lonnie T. Parker Service Award.

With more than two decades of experience in Corporate America, Dr. Blue has served as both a contributor and manager in information technology and business, gaining extensive hands-on expertise in technology systems, project management, operations, and organizational leadership. This industry experience deeply enhances her teaching, curriculum design, and mentorship, allowing her to bridge theory and practice while preparing students for today’s evolving workforce.

Dr. Blue earned a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration in Management and Information Technology Systems from The Union Institute & University. She holds an MBA from Winthrop University, an AACSB-accredited institution, and a B.A. in Economics, magna cum laude, from JCSU. Her professional development includes certifications in project management, online pedagogy, artificial intelligence, information security, leadership, and finance, with credentials from Johns Hopkins University, FEMA, AACSB, and Bloomberg, where she completed Finance Fundamentals in May 2025. She is ISACA-certified and a member of the Project Management Institute.

A proven grant leader, Dr. Blue has secured and managed over $1.3 million in external funding, including the LPL Financial Services Grant and the Minority Science and Engineering Improvement Program (MSEIP) grant, advancing academic innovation, technology access, entrepreneurship, student-centered teaching/learning, and workforce readiness initiatives.

An active scholar, Dr. Blue’s publications include peer-reviewed articles, books, and educational videos. Her professional and community service includes serving as a Board Member of Crisis Assistance Ministry, Advisor to the Delta Mu Delta Honor Business Society, Merlot Editorial Board (2022-2025), and Scholarship Chair of the National Council of Negro Women. In October 2025, she received the HBCU Faculty Development Network (HBCUFDN) Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her sustained impact on higher education.
