Biography

Camechia “CC” Johnson is a dedicated educator, mentor, and advocate committed to helping transfer students thrive academically and personally at Johnson C. Smith University. She currently serves as a Student Success Coach for STEM and Transfer Students, where she provides individualized guidance, accountability, and encouragement to students navigating the transition to a four-year HBCU.

In addition to coaching, Camechia teaches Smith Seminar (SMS 100), supporting first-year and transfer students as they adjust to college-level expectations, campus resources, and academic planning at JCSU. Her approach centers on holistic support—helping students build confidence, develop self-advocacy skills, and stay connected to their goals.

Camechia holds a Master’s degree in Counseling (Summa Cum Laude), along with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Associate degrees in Human Services and Liberal Arts. She is also an advisor of the Transfer Students Association, reinforcing her commitment to community and peer connection for transfer students.

Beyond campus, Camechia is a respected community leader and published author, “Say It!...ALOUD!” She is the Founder and Host of the Leslie N. Johnson Community Day Event, which raises awareness about drowsy driving in honor of her late sister, and serves as the CEO and President of the Leslie N. Johnson Youth Foundation for ART, an organization dedicated to empowering youth through creative expression.

For transfer students, Camechia is a steady source of support. She is someone who believes in their potential, understands their journey, and is committed to helping them succeed at JCSU and beyond.
