Biography

Awatif Amin is a computer science Associate professor at Johnson C. Smith University since 2001. She primarily focuses on programming and data analytics. Co/PI of a Department of Homeland Security Scientific Leadership Award, also has directly supervised curriculum change and undergraduate research capacity-building at JCSU, including development of three new courses and supervision of more than 100 senior capstone research project while also mentoring students in undergraduate research for the last 10 years. Co-PI: Sub award with UNC-C Intelligence Community Center of Excellence. MISP grant committee leader by searching preparing a Report for Prior Learning credit for some of the Computer Science courses. Dr. Amin received the Rising Star Award in 2020 for her success in securing research funding. She has authored several peer-reviewed articles in journals such American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), also an editorial board member for the journal ASEE regional (SE, and ASEE Annual Conference & Exposition—where engineering educators, researchers, industry leaders, and students come together to connect, collaborate, and shape the future of engineering and CIT education. Dr. Amin is enjoying Balling, playing Chess, and Travelling.
