Dr. Terza Lima-Neves, professor of Political Science and chair of the Department of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies, collaborated with Melissa Gonzalez, a professor at Davison College, to bring authentic connections back to college campuses through the Talk to Me Nice event.

Today's feature is Jazmeen Ryals-Sumter '25M, a Jersey City, N.J. native in her first year in the JCSU Master of Social Work program.

New Jersey native Eryn Glover ’25 is no stranger to accomplishments at Johnson C. Smith University. Now, the Business Administration major has another experience to add to her resume after she was selected to serve as a project coordinator/administrative assistant for one of the world’s leading tech companies, Apple.

​Danaria Gorham ’24 originally wanted to pursue a career in social work, but when she took a reporting course at Johnson C. Smith University, she fell in love with journalism. Now, the soon-to-be graduate and Woodbridge, Va. native has earned the opportunity to further her love for storytelling through an internship with National Geographic this summer.

JCSU closed out Black History Month this year with a performance and discussion at a Lyceum event on leap day. 

The event in Sara Gambrell Auditorium in Biddle Hall brought back several talented alumni who came to entertain and educate JCSU students. 

The CIAA Basketball Tournament on Thursday, Feb. 29 centered on women: powerful, purposeful, strong and centered. The day began with a burst of optimism at the CIAA Women's Empowerment Luncheon and ended, for the Golden Bulls, on the court.

Johnson C. Smith University has been the recipient of more than $100,000 in Home Depot Retool Your School grant funds. The Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management is looking to continue its winning streak by placing in the top five once again during this year’s Retool Your School contest.

The contest begins Monday, Feb. 26, and is expected to support 30 campuses with grants ranging from $40,000 to $150,000 per school. This is the 15th year that the Home Depot has offered the contest to HBCUs to offer much-needed financial support to often underfunded colleges and universities.

Johnson C. Smith University students, like students around the country, benefit from the federal TRiO Student Support Services Program. The program provides various services for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, including low-income students and students with disabilities, as well as first-generation college students.
