Smith, addressed the group for the first time during the Opening of School Conference. The bi-annual conference, held a few days before the start of each semester, gives campus leadership the opportunity to share JCSU updates. This year, Kinloch set an energetic tone for the semester to come.

Alumni Couple Helps Refurbish Residence Halls on Campus During Summer Renovation Projects
James ’78 and Valerie ’80 Vanderhall met on the campus of Johnson C. Smith University as undergraduate students. They focused on their academics, graduated, married and started their careers. Decades later, the couple found themselves and their business, V&D Corporation, back on campus assisting in the renovations of the residence halls they stayed in as students.

Johnson C. Smith University announces the selection of Monterika Warren as head women’s basketball coach, effective August 1, 2023. Warren has served as assistant women’s basketball coach and assistant athletics director of Student Affairs since joining JCSU’s Department of Athletics in January 2023.
