Biography
Tierra Parsons is a dedicated advocate for well-being with over 20 years of experience in the human services field. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Winston-Salem State University and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Maryland. Currently a doctoral candidate at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Tierra’s research focuses on the affirmation and equity of Black girls in education.
Her work examines the intersection of race, gender, and education, with a particular emphasis on how educational systems can better support the academic, social, and emotional development of Black girls. Tierra is committed to addressing the structural inequities that disproportionately affect these students and is focused on developing strategies that foster their success, well-being, and empowerment.
Passionate about advancing social justice in education, Tierra is a staunch advocate for ensuring equitable opportunities and resources for underserved communities, particularly those historically marginalized in educational settings.
