Biography

Stephanie Y. Spivey is a distinguished leader with nearly 20 years of experience in higher education and K-12 education, specializing in teaching, administration, compliance, clinical therapy, advising, and Title IX compliance. Her career is dedicated to empowering marginalized communities and fostering social mobility, advocating for students from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds.

Her professional accomplishments include leadership roles such as Manager of the Phasing Up Foster Care Program at Johnson C. Smith University, Dean of Students with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Disabilities Compliance Officer and Adjunct Professor at Bethel College, and Non-Profit Grants Manager at the University of Notre Dame. Stephanie has also served as an elected school board member, served as a leadership mentor for Saint Mary's College (in Notre Dame, IN), worked as the South Bend School Board's liaison to the Indiana General Assembly, and was a member of the City of South Bend, Indiana Redevelopment Commission (Mayoral Appointment).

Stephanie's graduate research examines the preservation of the HBCU mission, their impact on African Americans' futures, microaggressions within PWIs and HBCUs, and BLGO alumni donor engagement at North Carolina HBCUs. Her doctoral research focused on mixed methods designs, blending quantitative and qualitative methodologies.

With a Doctorate in Healthcare Administration (2024), dual M.Ed. degrees in Leadership and Educational Psychology, and a B.A. in Social Work, magna cum laude, Stephanie combines academic excellence with her passion for social justice, voter registration, Title IX compliance, and advocacy for equity and inclusion.

She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, a past member of the South Bend Area Chapter of The Links Incorporated, The League of Women Voters and Junior League of South Bend Indiana.
