The Johnson C. Smith University Campus Police Department provides a safe campus conducive to services which meet professional standards established for law enforcement agencies.

As a result, the campus environment furthers the educational process by creating and maintaining a secure campus for students, faculty, staff and visitors. JCSU Campus Police is a law enforcement agency whose officers are certified by the North Carolina Attorney General’s Office.

JCSU Campus Police operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. The agency complies with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). Campus crime reporting occurs on an annual basis as a result of collaboration with the University Campus Police Department and local and state law enforcement agencies, faculty, staff, students and visitors to the University.

In an effort to reduce the number of incidents on campus, crime prevention news releases, educational workshops, new student orientation programs, outreach programs and e-mail blast are utilized community awareness tools.
