New graduate lands tech start-up job in Charlotte following graduation

Tremell Parker '19

Tremell Parker ’19 is living the dream in his new role with Sitehands, an international tech start-up based in Charlotte. Parker started his new role as an IT Operations Analyst in December 2019, just days after graduation.

At Sitehands, he maintains clients’ IT infrastructure projects using project management principles. In addition to managing relationships, working with technicians and ensuring providers adhere to client standards.

“It’s amazing to be able to work for an international tech startup company that allows me to showcase my skillset and put my degree to use,” Parker said.

Parker, who has a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, received significant experience during his time at JCSU; interning with Coca-Cola and working in the IT department.

“I’m familiar with most of the technical problems I deal with at Sitehand because of my experience interning at Coca-Cola,” he emphasized.

Parker also attributes the skills, like leadership, he learned at JCSU with helping him in his career. During his time at the University, he served as the president of Rho chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and was chosen to represent JCSU as an HBCU-All Star as part of the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities

He hopes his ambition is an example to current students preparing for their careers.

“Despite being faced with rejection, they should never give up,” he said.
