Tuition and fees for JCSU

At Johnson C. Smith University, we understand the cost of a good education is an important consideration for students and their parents. The University reserves the right to change tuition and other charges at the beginning of the semester if such change is necessary in the judgment of the Board of Trustees. 

 

Basic fee information

 

JCSU tuition is $9,752 per semester for a full-time undergraduate JCSU student (12-18 hours). Students living on-campus will also need to pay for room and board and a meal plan. Depending on which plan you choose and which residence hall you stay in that fee will change. There are also application fees, parking fees and other fees to consider. Students enrolled for more than 18 credit hours will be charged an additional $728 per credit hour. 

Tuition for part-time students is $728 per credit hour and applies to students who are enrolled for 11 or fewer hours. 

Students enrolled in our evening and online program pay $580 per credit hour per term and a mandatory fee of $185 per semester. 

Graduate students pay a mandatory fee of $185 per semester. Graduate students studying full-time, 9-15 hours per semester, pay $9,154. Students studying less than 9 hours per semester pay $1,017 per credit hour.

Meal plans

Meal plan 1

This plan is available to students living on and off campus. It offers 19 meals per week, Monday- Sunday. The meals include breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday-Friday, and brunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday. This plan includes $300 Flex Dollars for the student to use in select dining locations managed by Perkins Management Company. Flex dollars do not roll over to the next semester. This plan is $1,507 per semester.

Meal plan 2

This plan is available to students living on and off campus. It offers 15 meals per week, three meals per day, Monday – Friday. Meals included are breakfast, lunch and dinner but no weekend meals. This plan includes $400 Flex Dollars for the student to use in select dining locations managed by Perkins Management Company. Flex dollars do not roll over to the next semester. This plan is $1,507 per semester.

Meal plan 4

This plan is for off-campus students only. It offers ten meals per week breakfast, lunch or dinner five days per week not to exceed ten meals per week but no weekend meals. This plan also includes $100 Flex Dollars for the student to use in select dining locations managed by Perkins Management Company. Flex dollars do not roll over to the next semester. Students who have dietary restrictions must provide the Health Center with a written statement from their physician indicating the nature of the restriction and the recommended diet, at the beginning of the semester. The Health Center will work in conjunction with the Food Service to develop a meal plan to accommodate these students. This meal plan is $1,000 per semester.

Reminder

Students must have a valid JCSU ID card to enter the cafeteria.  Students without a valid ID card must go to the Business Office in Biddle Hall Suite 320 to pay for a new card and then to the JCSU IT Help Desk to have a replacement ID card made.

Summer school fees for 2023

JCSU offers a limited course offering based on demand during the summer months. Financial aid awards for the regular semester are not automatically carried into summer school and require a separate application. You must be enrolled for six credit hours during summer school in order to be eligible for financial aid. 

Traditional undergraduate students pay $580 per credit hour for JCSU's summer school program.
