Frequently Asked Questions

Why wait? We want you to register for Golden Bull Academy as soon as possible! Because we want to ensure a healthy and safe environment during Golden Bull Academy, we reserve the right to close a session once we hit our maximum of 50 students. Someone from the Golden Bull Academy Planning Team will contact you, if this decision impacts you, to suggest another session date.

Yes, it is free during the summer months of June and July, as well as in August of 2021. And, you only need to select one session to attend!

Yes, it is mandatory! We want to ensure your curricular and co-curricular success and you can get a “head start” by joining us to learn more about your educational, social and cultural journey at JCSU, by attending Golden Bull Academy.

Please contact us at GBA@jcsu.edu and we will work with you and your family to move your session date.

Johnson C. Smith University has a thriving international presence on campus and we are excited that you have selected our institution. You are more than welcome to attend any of our planned sessions, but we encourage you to take into consideration your overall travel plans to the United States since the 2021-2022 academic year commences on Monday, August 16, 2021. For more information about our International Student Experience, I-20 generation process, etc., please contact the Registrar’s Office at registrar@jcsu.edu

Your Health Form is critical to your safety and well-being while you are enrolled at JCSU, particularly as we continue to live with the threat of COVID-19. North Carolina law requires that all entering students submit proof of required immunizations to maintain enrollment at JCSU. The Director of Health Services, Dr. Marian Jones, reserves the right to interpret the validity of all documents submitted to Health Services. If you have specific medical questions for Dr. Jones, then please reach out to her at myjones@jcsu.edu or 704.378.1074.

Yes! As we prepare to return to campus this fall, JCSU will require that you arrive fully vaccinated--meaning you have either received the Johnson and Johnson ("one-and-done" shot) or the Moderna/Pfizer (two-shot) vaccinations. Likewise, waiting until the start of school on Monday, August 16, 2021, will not be an option. Two or more weeks will need to have passed, after you received either the one or two-shot options, before arriving safely to campus.

What does this mean? In order to return to campus for the fall 2021 semester, your vaccination process must be completed by Friday, July 30, 2021.

Verification of your vaccination experience will be determined by one of the following:

  • Providing a copy of your COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card that will be kept in your health records in Health Services; or,
  • Including vaccination verification, as evidenced by a doctor or vaccination clinic, as a part of your regular Health Immunization Form submission to Health Services

Since you will be coming to Golden Bull Academy, you can bring your verification with you and provide a copy to Health Services during your respective orientation session. If you have questions or concerns about this requirement (i.e., need to request a medical and/or religious exemption), then please contact Dr. Marian Jones, Director of Health Services, at myjones@jcsu.edu or 704.378.1074, for further assistance.

Great question! You can provide your completed Health Form and all supporting medical documents two, main ways (see below). And don’t forget, you can bring your Health Form and medical documents, including proof of your COVID-19 vaccine, to Golden Bull Academy with you
