JCSU First-Year Experience: From high school to college

Welcome to the First-Year Experience, we realize that the transition from high school senior to college freshman is a huge milestone in life. It can be exciting, scary, fun and stressful all at once.

We offer incoming students their own home on this campus to help them get used to life as a JCSU freshman. Our orientation programs are the gateway to your college journey.  We support, encourage and facilitate student engagement both on campus and in the classroom. There are 3 programs available to aid in your transition to JCSU and they are as follow:

Golden Bull Express

Golden Bull Express is a one day early advising and registration opportunity for entering JCSU students held in early July.  Future Smithites and their parents/guardians have an opportunity to get assistance with the completion of the 9 Steps to Enrollment, the university’s official registration process.

Golden Bull Express was designed to give additional guided support to students and their families as they navigate the financial clearance process.  Students and families will be able to:

  • Meet with academic advisors,
  • Register for classes,
  • Get to know your classmates and campus community,
  • Receive more information on financial aid,
  • Get a glimpse of life as a Smithite.

Golden Bull Express is not a mandatory program the enrollment and registration process can be done online.

  • Bond with your freshman classmates early
