Sitting on part of the original 8 acres donated to the university in 1870, the Block is the name students have given to the plaza area between Biddle Hall and the Student Union. A gathering place for 150 years, the Block is the place where members of the JCSU family can relax, meet friends and enjoy the beautiful Carolina weather between classes. It also serves as the location for a number of celebrations for students, alumni and the community alike. Pep rallies, homecoming celebrations, Greek life, and other university events usually end up taking place out on the Block.
