New Science Center
The 62,000 square-foot $45 million New Science Center was completed in 2015, and it serves as a symbol of JCSU’s focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The structure includes a common atrium, ten fully equipped labs for Biology, Chemistry and Physics courses and research, seven full classrooms, faculty offices, and a 250-seat tiered lecture hall and auditorium to accommodate guest lectures, conferences, and other events. It also hosts the Center for Renewable Energy and Sustainability, the Center for Bioinformatics/Biotechnology, the Center for Medical Informatics, and the Center for Analytical Research on campus. The Charlotte community is also able to take advantage of these resources through the JCSU STEM Innovation Center, which provides training, mentoring, think tanks and STEM summer camps for students, teachers and professionals.
