New Residence Hall

The New Residence Hall, or “New Rez” as most Smithites call it, was built in 1994. This residence hall is occupied by upperclassmen and features a townhouse-like setting, with students living alone in one of the six bedrooms found in each unit. Each of the apartment-like units also features a shared living room, kitchenette and dining area. There is also a community space where the 210 residents can do laundry, study in the reading room, enjoy a full kitchen, use the computer room or lounge and socialize with friends in the large community room. All of the student housing is arranged around a shared courtyard complex, an open space where students can relax and enjoy the North Carolina weather.
