Metropolitan College
In 2009, The Duke Endowment provided funds for the Johnson C. Smith University-Metropolitan College of Professional Studies, which offers undergraduate adult degree programs in the evening for adults that want to enhance their opportunities for career advancement and success. The program is housed in the former Robert L. Albright Honors College, which was built in 1990 and named for JCSU’s 11th president. The multifunctional building houses seminar rooms, a computer lab, conference rooms, and a living and dining area decorated with various artwork. The Metropolitan College offers bachelor’s degree programs in business administration, sport management, social work and criminology, as well as various short certificate programs. The College provides adult students with flexible, convenient schedules and a variety of course styles including on-campus and online options, and it has greatly increased JCSU’s visibility and enrollment for a previously underserved population.
