Tyanna Coker ’20 is spending her summer in Atlanta, Georgia helping the Democratic Party with the 2020 election.

The senior, along with 300 other students, are interning with Organizing Corps 2020. The eight-week program gives students an opportunity to work with the Democratic Party to help engage in communities during the election season.

The internship has allowed Coker to meet prominent figures like Charlotte’s mayor, Vi Lyles.

“An internship only opens up doors for networking, and to get to the next level is all about networking,” she said. “I believe students should engage in internships because it is only opening up their experience level and making themselves harder to compete with when it’s time to apply for jobs or grad school.”
