The Student Support Services offices and Tutorial Lab are conveniently located on the first floor of
Johnson Seabrook Education Building on campus.
Academic Services
Tutorial Services
Student
participants are encouraged to meet with the Disability/Language
Specialist or Coordinator of Tutorials/Academic Advisor for
consultation when encountering grammar-related problems while
completing class assignments.
Each student is also encouraged to
submit class papers to the Disability/Language Specialist or
Coordinator of Tutorial Services/Academic Advisor for evaluation
before submitting them to the instructor.
Tutorial Lab
The Student Support Services
Tutorial Lab has been designed to assist SSS student
participants with the understanding and completion of course
assignments and prepare for course examinations. Students can
find a quiet place to study and receive some one-on-one
assistance in various subject areas in the SSS Lab. Computers
and other resources are available to complete any task at hand.
Supplemental Instruction
The SSS Program provides
Supplemental Instruction in the areas
of math and writing.
Students can participate in structured sessions in Duke Lower
Lobby.
Tutorial/Mentoring Assistance
Tutorial Assistance is designed to
help SSS student participants to understand and complete course
assignments, improve classroom participation, and prepare for
course examinations. The SSS Program provides tutoring in areas
of the Liberal Studies Curriculum (i.e., Integrated Studies,
Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, and other
subjects of interest).
Our tutors also serve as mentors to the freshmen SSS
participants. Their role in this capacity is to help the
students adjust to the college environment, encourage program
participation, and acquaint them to campus resources.

The Student Support Services program
will provide workshops throughout the year to assist students
academically. We also work collaboratively with
Career Services

not limited to):

for graduate and professional school.
