About the Center for Leadership and Community Service

In making the community better, we make ourselves better. By participating in community service as part of a graduation requirement, you'll develop a sense of social and civic responsibility.

The Center also works with various JCSU academic departments on a regular basis, including:

JCSU students make a difference in their communities. While community service is a requirement, many students go beyond the minimum once they realize how much they get out of serving others. You'll have a wide variety of service sites from which to choose, and you can even undertake community service at home.

Some examples of places where students have performed community service include:

• Crisis Assistance Ministry
• Levine Museum of the New South
• Habitat for Humanity of Charlotte
• Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Charlotte
• Blumenthal Performing Arts Center

Through community service, you'll be part of a long history of helping others. The Corporation for National and Community Service, a federal agency, recently named JCSU to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for its innovative and effective community service programs.
