JCSU to Publish Book to Honor Dr. Dorothy Cowser Yancy’s Presidency

A book chronicling the 14-year term tenure at JCSU will soon be published.

In celebration of Dr. Dorothy Cowser Yancy’s 14-year tenure at Johnson C. Smith University, three authors have capsulated her dynamic impact on the school in a commemorative book. The book, “The Yancy Years: The Age of Infrastructure, Technology, and Restoration,” is an educational narrative about the history of Johnson C. Smith University’s twelfth president.

Research for this book involved conducting more than 75 separate, individual interviews for the book. Authors Brian L. Johnson, Ph.D., Sharon D. Raynor, Ph.D., and Benny L. Smith, APR also utilized university records, Board of Trustees reports, and presidential reports to the Board of Trustees, presidential speeches, various university publications, and local and national newspaper articles.

The book, slated for publication on June 26, 2008, will cost $44.95 plus $3.25 tax and $7.95 for shipping for a total of $56.16 per book..
