C. Smith University has promoted three of its employees to
serve as Dean of Students, Interim Admissions Director and
Interim Student Support Services Director.
“Each
of these employees has shown leadership in their former
positions and I feel they will be a perfect fit in their new
University roles,” said Johnson C. Smith President, Dr.
Dorothy Cowser Yancy.
Cathy
W. Jones began her new role as Dean of Students this week.
Jones has worked with JCSU for the past five years as its
Student Support Services Coordinator. Jones received her
Master’s of Education Degree from the University of North
Carolina Charlotte and her Bachelor’s of Arts degree in
Sociology from Barber-Scotia College.
Jocelyn
Biggs is the new Interim Admissions Director. Biggs started
working with the university in 2000 as an admissions
counselor. She was later promoted to assistant admissions
director in 2003. Biggs has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass
Communications from Bennett College in Greensboro, N.C.
James
Saunders II also began his new role as Interim Director of Student
Support Services this week. Saunders previously worked with
the university as the Student Support Services Tutorial
Coordinator. Saunders began working with the university in
1997. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political
Science from Johnson C. Smith University. He also holds a
Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University
of North Carolina Charlotte.
