Johnson C. Smith University featured in
Ebony Magazine
September
4, 2007 – Johnson C. Smith University is featured in the
September issue of Ebony Magazine.
The latest magazine issue features Historically Black Colleges and
Universities as well as a section dedicated to African-American
fashion. Ebony Magazine is part of the Johnson Publishing Company
and has 12 million readers.
Johnson C. Smith University is the only HBCU in the Carolinas
featured in the special “Campus Updates” story. The story focuses on
Dr. Dorothy Cowser Yancy’s last year at JCSU. Yancy announced this
summer that she would end her 13-year tenure as president at the
university on June 30, 2008.
Also, key university events, such as JCSU’s Homecoming in October
and Founder’s Day in the spring, are mentioned in the “Campus
Calendar” section of the magazine.
Founded in 1867, Johnson C. Smith University offers 27 majors to
approximately 1,500 students. Each student is provided with a laptop
during the beginning of the school year providing them with complete
access to a campus-wide network and Internet through
both wired and wireless connectivity.
