(CHARLOTTE, NC)----Two
Johnson C. Smith students made the cut to be featured in the
September issue of Ebony Magazine.
Senior Chaundra Crawford and Sophomore Daryl Jackson represented
Johnson C. Smith in the six-page article spread titled, “Campus
Fashions: Co-eds Showcase Their Favorite Styles.”
Each student used their own clothing in the photo shoot. Ebony
Associate Editor Zondra Hughes asked students to select a casual
and formal outfit they would wear to campus related functions.
“My style is trendy yet sophisticated,” Crawford said. “I love
to wear vintage clothing that has a unique sense to it.”
Johnson C. Smith University was the only HBCU in the Southeast
to receive such recognition. Students from five historical Black
Colleges and universities were featured in the article.
In addition to the fashion article, JCSU President Dorothy
Cowser Yancy was featured twice in the same issue in articles,
“The Boule at 100” and “Campus Dilemma: Coping with the Acute
Male Shortage.”
Ebony Magazine is part of the Johnson Publishing Company and has
12 million readers.
