The Office of Public Relations at Johnson C. Smith University acts as a liaison between the community/media and the university. The office handles university publications, advertising, marketing, and internal and external university communications, including the University Newsletter, the President's Report and the JCSU Web Site.

Johnson C. Smith tennis coach James Cuthbertson, Jr. recently won his 200th men’s tennis match with a 9-0 victory over Saint Augustine’s College. He has been the men’s coach for 13 years and the women’s coach for 10 years.

JCSU president Dr. Dorothy Cowser Yancy was recognized for her service at the 64th annual United Negro College Fund dinner last month.

 

JCSU Softball Wins First Western Division Crown- April 10, 2008

The JCSU Lady Bulls softball team won the school’s first ever divisional title this week as the team said thank you and goodbye to two senior student-athletes.

The National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs and the Levine Museum recently inducted JCSU President Dr. Dorothy Cowser Yancy has been inducted into the Women’s History Hall of Fame.

JCSU Cheerleading Announces Spring Tryouts- March 26, 2008

JCSU Cheerleading Advisor Peggy Lide, announced on Wednesday that the JCSU Cheerleading squad will hold open mascot tryouts on April 15-17, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. in the Irwin Belk Complex Dance Studio.

 

JCSU Crowns Two National Champions in Indoor Track & Field- March 15, 2008

The Johnson C. Smith University freshman sensations Leford Green and Shermaine Williams have both won their respective events in the 2008 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships.

 

Vanguard Awards Book Vouchers to JCSU- March 10, 2008

The JCSU Corporate Alliance Program (CAP) announced that CAP partner Vanguard recently awarded $200 book vouchers to four  Johnson C. Smith University students. The students, all juniors, were selected based on grade point average (GPA), registration with Office of Career Services, and essay submission.

 
JCSU PR Office Wins Regional Award - February 26, 2008
Johnson C. Smith University won an Award of Excellence for its 2006 “Application of Success” President’s Report from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) district competition. The Award of Excellence was the top award given in the category entered by JCSU, and the highest CASE award garnered by JCSU to date.
 
JCSU Vice-President of Student Affairs Resigns - February 11, 2008
AwardJohnson C. Smith University Vice-President for Student Affairs Jeffrey Smith has resigned his position effective June 2008. Smith is leaving his position to work as the new Vice-President for Student Affairs at Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona, Fla.
