The Office of Public Relations at Johnson C. Smith University
acts as a liaison between the community/media and the
university. The office handles university publications,
advertising, marketing, and internal and external university
communications, including the University Newsletter, the
President's Report and the JCSU Web Site.

recently won his 200th men’s tennis match with a 9-0

men’s coach for 13 years and the women’s coach for 10

 The
JCSU Corporate Alliance Program (CAP) announced that CAP
partner Vanguard recently awarded $200 book vouchers to
four Johnson C. Smith University students. The
students, all juniors, were selected based on grade
point average (GPA), registration with Office of Career
Services, and essay submission. |

| Johnson C. Smith University won an Award of
Excellence for its 2006 “Application of Success”
President’s Report from the Council for the Advancement
and Support of Education (CASE) district competition.
The Award of Excellence was the top award given in the
category entered by JCSU, and the highest CASE award
garnered by JCSU to date. |

Jeffrey Smith has resigned his position effective June
2008. Smith is leaving his position to work as the new
Vice-President for Student Affairs at Bethune-Cookman

 The
Wachovia Foundation announced today a $1
million pledge to JCSU. The Wachovia
Foundation’s $1 million gift will be
used to grow the existing “Wachovia
Excellence Endowed Scholarship.” |

Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS)
has reaffirmed accreditation at Johnson
C. Smith University for the next 10
years. JCSU’s last accreditation review
was in the 1996-1997 fiscal year. |

CATO Corporation of Charlotte, N.C., has
awarded Johnson C. Smith University
$250,000 to support The CATO Scholarship
for Teacher Education at the university. |
