How can I Apply?

Application Methods Application Requirements:
  • Completed application form
  • $25 application fee
  • Official high school transcript mailed directly from the school
  • Official SAT or ACT scores
    • Scores typed or written on high school transcripts cannot be accepted
    • Scores are not required for applicants who have been out of high school for five years or longer
  • A letter of recommendation or essay is not required

Freshman

Johnson C. Smith University is searching for serious students who desire a well-rounded education.

Students must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for admission:
  • A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 on 4.0 scale
  • A cumulative grade point average (GPA) 77 on 100 point scale
  • 800 or better on SAT (Critical Reading and Math ONLY)
  • 16 or better on ACT
  • 4 English Courses
  • 2 Social Science Courses
  • 3 Math Courses
  • 2 Science Courses (1 must have been with a lab)
  • 2 Foreign Language Courses
  • 3 Electives
Students must meet the following additional requirements to be considered for an academic scholarship:
  • A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on 4.0 scale
  • A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 84 on 100 point scale
  • 1000 or better on SAT (Critical Reading and Math ONLY)
  • 21 or better on ACT

Credit by Examination (AP)

Students satisfactorily completing Advanced Placement Examinations (3 or above) will be awarded college credit. The Council of Deans in conjunction with the Department Chair will award up to 15 credit hours according to University and College Board Regulations.

Candidates for admission to Johnson C. Smith University are reviewed on their individual merit. Although several criteria are used in determining the admission of each individual candidate, no one criterion is necessarily the most important.
