Winston B. Crisp is assistant vice chancellor for Student Affairs at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has served in this capacity for three years and is a member of the executive team for the vice chancellor for student affairs. Crisp is responsible for the Office of the Dean of Students, LGBTQ Center, Office of Disability Services, the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, Judicial Programs Office, Divisional Crisis Management, the Student and Academic Services Building, and Divisional Assessment Efforts. He is also responsible for campus-wide alcohol and substance abuse policy and enforcement. In addition, Crisp consults regularly with campus groups on safety and crisis management issues.

Crisp has a B.A. degree, summa cum laude, in history from Johnson C. Smith University (1989). At JCSU he was active in student government and student judicial matters. He received a J.D. degree from the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Law in 1992, where he was inducted into the James E. and Carolyn B. Davis Society, the school’s highest honor for leadership and service. He teaches a freshman honors seminar on university policy and practice and has also taught classes on legal writing and advocacy as well as the 14th Amendment and due process issues.

In his spare time, Crisp is an avid reader, serves on the boards of directors for a number of local non-profit organizations ,and volunteers his time as a coach for a youth league basketball team.
