Charlotte, N.C., - Jan. 8, 2013 – Beginning Jan. 22, Johnson C. Smith University’s HealthPlex will offer a free weight management program for the community of the Northwest Corridor. Twelve group sessions will be held Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. at the HealthPlex located near Brayboy Gymnasium. The goal of the program is to help participants learn how to maintain healthy lifestyles by creating good eating habits and exercising regularly.

Smith University hosted the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) day Oct. 20, for more than 20 students from Charlotte Mecklenburg high schools. University students in an educational psychology class planned and organized the event to help the participants gain insight into college life.

HealthPlex to Provide Health and Wellness On Campus; Facility to Serve Residents in Northwest Corridor
Charlotte, N.C. Nov. 20, 2012 -- On October 26, Johnson C. Smith University officially opened HealthPlex, a new facility designed to promote health and wellness on campus and in the community. Located next to Jack S. Brayboy Gymnasium, the 5,600-square-foot facility houses the university’s Applied Health Research Center and Wellness Department.
