JCSU/COCA-COLA MASTERBULL GRILLER COOK-OFF CONTEST

Charlotte, NC - August 20, 2013 - Johnson C. Smith University in conjunction with the Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated will be conducting the JCSU/Coca-Cola MasterBULL Griller Cook-off at each of the home Golden Bull football games this season. There are no entry fees for the contest, but all participants must purchase a JCSU tailgate space to compete.

The MasterBULL Griller Cook-Off is fan-friendly, football tailgating competition that adds even more flare to the Golden Bulls’ game experience. Tailgaters who have the grilling skills and the finesse may enter the competitions at each of the four JCSU home games leading up to Homecoming.

Grillers will be judged on a specific signature meat each contest. Judges will select one winner each contest. The four winners will compete for the grand prize and ultimate title of MasterBULL Griller 2013 during Homecoming Day festivities on October 26, 2013.

Entries must be cooked on-site during the cook-off. Pre-cooked entries that are warmed and plated in the cook-off area will not be eligible for judging. A selected panel of judges will evaluate entries based on the following:

 Taste/Flavor (up to 50 points)

  • Tenderness/Texture (up to 30 points)
  • Appearance/Presentation (up to 15 points)
  • Creativity (up to 5 points)

Only participants who have purchased official JCSU tailgating spaces may compete in the MasterBULL Griller Cook-Off. Employees of Johnson C. Smith University or Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated or any other sponsors of the contest are NOT eligible to enter.

Each week one winner will receive: (1.) a Coca-Cola branded apron, (2.) a set of Coca-Cola branded grilling utensils. The grand prize Homecoming winner will earn: (1.) the title of MasterBULL Griller 2013, (2.) a grill with a built on insulated cooler, (3.) his/her name and photo featured on a banner in the Golden Bull Fan Zone, (4.) a winner’s keepsake.

Here is a breakdown of the home game/contest dates and designated dish to be prepared.

October 5                        Shish Kabobs

October 19                      Ribs (pork or beef)

October 26                      Final Cook-off Your winning meat from a prior week
