The Arch of Triumph Gala is a signature event hosted by Johnson C. Smith University to celebrate the university’s founding, honor distinguished individuals and alumni and help raise funds to support the JCSU Fund. More than 500 guests typically attend the black-tie event, including corporate and community leaders and high-profile JCSU alumni.

The gala was designed to attract alumni and friends of the university to a formal and celebratory fundraising event. JCSU alumni, Charlotte residents and local corporations, as well as members of the philanthropic community, attended the inaugural Arch of Triumph Gala held on April 18, 2009, at the Westin Hotel in Charlotte.

The event attracted more than 690 guests and grossed more than $128,000 to benefit the JCSU Fund, which supports needed funds for scholarships, teaching and learning initiatives and programs vital to providing a quality educational experience to JCSU students. Since its inception, the Gala has grossed over $1,144,016.
