1867 Giving Societies
Johnson C. Smith University’s rich
legacy is rooted in its founding in 1867. The six societies that
make up the 1867 Giving Societies recognize the cumulative giving of
our most generous donors since January 2000.
1867 Giving Societies members make a
difference in the lives of JCSU students. Their contributions are
vital to the continuing excellence of the University.

Inaugural Members of 1867 Giving
Society Inducted at 2005 Homecoming Gala
Some arrived from South Carolina and
Washington D.C.; others came from Philadelphia and various points
across North Carolina. Regardless of where their journey began,
their destination was the same – the Johnson C. Smith University’s
National Alumni Association’s Homecoming Gala on October 28, 2005 in
Charlotte. Their common purpose for attending: to be inducted into
the most prestigious philanthropy group at JCSU, the 1867 Giving
Societies.
