Goodwin and Panda pose with check
Johnson C. Smith University and the College of Business and Professional Studies recently received a $15,000 gift from accomplished alumnus Kenneth A. Goodwin Jr. '96 and his wife Rosalind Panda. The couple made the donation as a way to support Goodwin’s alma mater; the vision of Dr. Alphonso Ogbuehi, dean of the College of Business and Professional Studies; and the vision of Dr. Valerie Kinloch, the 15th President of Johnson C. Smith University.

Duke Endowment at MREI
The Duke Endowment made a big announcement last week: a $175 million gift to the four colleges and universities named in the Duke Indenture of Trust. Johnson C. Smith University is among them, celebrating a $25 million gift today. The Duke Endowment also announces $25 million grants to Davidson College and Furman University. A $100 million centennial gift to Duke was shared in November.

Tami B. Simmons, JCSU’s vice president for Institutional Advancement, is slated to speak on a four-person panel discussing nonprofit best practices this week. The panel is presented by PNC Institutional Asset Management and will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Mint Museum, located at 2730 Randolph Road, Charlotte, NC 28207.
