Contact Lisa Workman Crenshaw, Dr:

Dr. Crenshaw is an Assistant Professor and the Chairperson of the Social Work Department at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina. She teaches courses in social work practice, research and social policy. She has 19 years of experience in child welfare through her direct practice experience with public and private child welfare agencies, research, and program planning and curriculum development in higher education, administration and service on a county task force that focused on securing supportive services for youth aging out the countys child welfare system.

Dr. Crenshaw is additionally a Licensed Minister with the State of Ohio with New Freedom Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Tonya Fields-Brooks in Cleveland, Ohio and holds church membership with The Park Church in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Dr. Crenshaws professional expertise is on the impact of abuse and neglect on children and families with a specific focus on child sexual abuse, domestic violence, divorce recovery, and youth aging out of the foster care system. She has research experience in the recurrence of child sexual abuse referrals and risk assessment tools and grant work experience in the areas of kinship adoption and the identification of barriers in public and private service delivery systems.

Dr. Crenshaws future goals include opening a group home for at-risk adolescent females, program planning and development, and research evaluation within the area of child welfare. She is additionally interested in the establishment of partnerships between academia, the faith-based community and social service agencies.
