Lakeshia Legette is an assistant professor of mathematics in the Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Johnson C. Smith University. She is beginning her fourth year at Johnson C. Smith University and has also served as the Honors Program director for the past two years. Her research interests include topological algebra, graph theory and mathematical finance. She is also interested in learning new and exciting methods of teaching mathematics to college students with limited experiences in mathematics. She earned her B.S. in mathematics from Columbia College in South Carolina and both her M.S. and Ph.D. in mathematics from Howard University in Washington, DC. She was a recipient of the UNCF Faculty Residency Fellowship (2010) and continues to do research which is closely related to her dissertation topic. She is currently working on a master's degree in mathematical finance.
