Joseph Turner

Dr. Turner studies the effects of the computer on reading and writing, content and style. Of interest to students (how about replacing the essay with tweets?), the research also applies to scholarship. His current project, "Cavell at Work: On The Senses of Walden," assumes two forms: the one, straight exposition; and the other, twisting and turning into hypertext. By comparing the two, Turner means to test the hypothesis that the reading and writing of the philosopher Stanley Cavell are hypertextual in a measurable sense.
