HR Frequently Asked Questions
Did you receive my application or resume?
We appreciate your
interest in becoming a part of the Johnson C. Smith University team and
we understand how important it is that your credentials reach the right
person for consideration. Unfortunately, the size of our staff
limits our ability to respond to phone calls from applicants who ask if
we have received their application or resume.
Resumes submitted
to
hrrep@jcsu.edu
or
www.careerbuilder.com
will receive an automatic response via email.
We will acknowledge resumes and applications received by fax or US mail
by email when an email address is provided. Please print this
response as confirmation that we have received your resume. If you have
not provided us with an email address, we will mail a postcard
acknowledging the receipt of your credentials. You will normally
receive this postcard in 10-14 business days.
What happens to my application or
resume after I submit it?
If you have
applied for a current vacancy, your credentials will be forwarded to the
hiring supervisor or search committee who will review them for the
opening. If you are a top candidate for the position, you will be
contacted for an interview. This contact will come from the hiring
department.
General
applications or resumes (applications or resumes submitted when no
opening exists), will remain on file for 90 days. This will allow
us to review your credentials for job openings that occur during that
period. You will be contacted only if position becomes available
within the 90 day period for which you appear to be qualified.
How long will my application or
resume be active?
Your application
or resume is active for 90 days. After this 90-day period, a new
application or resume is necessary to apply for openings within the
University.
Should I submit an application or a
resume?
Initially, a
resume and letter of application are that are needed to express interest
in a position. In some cases, we will ask that unofficial
transcripts and reference contact information be submitted along with
the resume and letter of application. Finalists for the position
will be required to complete a Johnson C. Smith University application.
